2 3-Dibromo-1-Propanol Definition

A synthetic, colorless liquid that is soluble in water, alcohol, ether, benzene and acetone. It is used as an intermediate in the production of flame retardants, insecticides and pharmaceuticals. The primary routes of potential human exposure to 2,3-dibromo-1-propanol are inhalation and dermal contact. Currently, exposure of humans to this chemical is limited to workers who are exposed in an occupational setting. It is reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen. (NCI05)
