2-Nitroanisole Definition
A synthetic, colorless or slightly yellow liquid that is insoluble in water and soluble in most organic solvents. It is used primarily as a precursor to o-anisidine, which is used extensively in the synthesis of azo dyes. 2-Nitroanisole is also used as an intermediate for the preparation of pharmaceuticals products. The primary routes of potential human exposure to 2-nitroanisole are dermal contact, ingestion and inhalation. It is reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen. (NCI05)
