ABCB5 wt Allele Definition

Human ABCB5 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 7p15.3 and is approximately 108 kb in length. This allele, which encodes ATP-binding cassette sub-family B member 5 protein, is involved in the mediation of the transport of small molecules across membranes. Expression of the gene is linked to drug resistance for a subset of melanomas.
