APOBEC-3G Protein Definition
DNA dC-dU-editing enzyme APOBEC-3G protein (384 aa, ~46 kDa) is encoded by the human APOBEC3G gene. This protein is a member of the cytidine deaminase gene family and may play a role in editing mRNA, cellular growth and cell cycle control. The enzyme inhibits the viral replication of several virion species; however, the lethality of human T-cell leukemia virus type I may exhibit resistance to the activity of this enzyme.
