The most abundant mitochondrial protein, Adenine Nucleotide Translocator (ANT), is a homodimer of 30-kD subunits embedded asymmetrically in the inner mitochondrial membrane that forms a gated pore through which ADP is moved from the matrix to the cytoplasm.
