Amphiregulin Definition
Amphiregulin is a heparin-binding, heparin-inhibited member of the epidermal growth factor family and an autocrine growth factor for human keratinocytes. It seems to play an important role in mammary epithelial cell growth regulation. It shows overexpression in various tumors. It is encoded by the AREG gene.
