Amprenavir Definition
A synthetic antiviral agent. As a derivative of hydroxyethylamine sulfonamide, amprenavir selectively binds to and inhibits human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) protease, thereby preventing cleavage of the gag-pol viral polyprotein and resulting in the release of immature, noninfectious virions.
