Amyloid Beta Precursor Protein-Binding Protein 2 Definition
Encoded by human APPBP2 Gene, ubiquitous 70 kD cytoplasmic Amyloid Beta Precursor Protein-Binding Protein 2 contains terminal globular structures, a coiled coil domain, PKC phosphorylation sites, and four imperfect C-terminal tandem repeats. In the Golgi apparatus, APPBP2 is associated with transport or processing of amyloid precursor protein (APP). Cell surface sorting of the signal-transducing APP depends on a cytoplasmic tyrosine-based basolateral sorting signal (BaSS) sequence to which APPBP2 specifically binds. Amyloid BaSS tyrosine mutation prevents APPBP2 binding and results in nonpolarized transport. Similar to the kinesin light chain, APPBP2 also interacts with microtubules and may have a role in vesicle sorting. APPBP2 is abundantly expressed in breast cancer. (from OMIM, and NCI)
