Anti-HGF Monoclonal Antibody AMG 102 Definition
A fully human IgG2 monoclonal antibody directed against the human hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) with potential antineoplastic activity. Monoclonal antibody AMG 102 selectively targets and binds to HGF, thereby preventing the binding of HGF to its receptor c-Met, a receptor tyrosine kinase overexpressed or mutated in many tumor cell types, which plays a key role in cancer cell growth, survival, angiogenesis, invasion, and metastasis. Blockage of HGF/c-Met-mediated signal transduction pathways eventually leads to an induction of cell death in cells expressing c-Met.
