Encoded by human GOT2 Gene (Class-I Pyridoxal-Phosphate-Dependent Aminotransferase Family), 430-aa 47-kDa homodimeric Aspartate Aminotransferase 2 is a pyridoxal phosphate-dependent enzyme of the inner mitochondrial membrane or matrix, similar to cytoplasmic GOT1, and involved in both amino acid metabolism and the urea and tricarboxylic acid cycles.
