Human BRCD1 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of chromosome 13 and the length of the gene is currently unknown. This allele, which encodes breast cancer, ductal, suppressor-1 protein, is involved in tumor suppression. Variant alleles are associated with several types of cancers; including, retinoblastoma, mesenchymal tumors and ductal carcinoma.
