Bendroflumethiazide Definition
A thiazide diuretic. Bendroflumethiazide directly inhibits sodium and chloride reabsorption on the luminal membrane of the early segment of the distal convoluted tubule in the kidney. This drug increases water, sodium, chloride, potassium and bicarbonate excretion and decreases calcium and uric acid secretion. Bendroflumethiazide is commonly used to treat hypertension, edema, and congestive heart failure.
