Breast Carcinoma Amplified Sequence-1 Protein Definition
Encoded by human BCAS1 Gene, the predicted 584-amino acid 62 kD NABC1 Protein has no significant homology to other proteins and has unknown function. It is over expressed in most but not all breast cancer cell lines in which the gene is amplified and is associated with more aggressive tumor phenotypes. Although not consistently expressed in breast cancer cell lines, NABC1 is a candidate oncogene product. (from SWISS-PROT, OMIM, and NCI)
