Brimodine Definition
A synthetic quinoxaline derivative, Brimodine (brimonidine) acts as a relatively selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist. Used for open angle glaucoma and eye hypertension, topical administration decreases intraocular pressure with minimal effect on cardiovascular parameters, reducing aqueous humor production and increasing uveoscleral outflow.
