C Motif Chemokine Receptor-1 Definition

Encoded by human XCR1 Gene (GPCR Family 1), Chemokine (C Motif) XC Receptor 1 is a 333-amino acid 38.5 kD seven transmembrane protein most closely related to RBS11 and MIP1-alpha/RANTES receptor. Strong expression of the receptor for chemokines XCL1 (SCYC1) and XCL2 (SCYC2) occurs in placenta, spleen, and thymus. Cells expressing GPR5 mobilize intracellular calcium and migrate in response to SCYC1 and SCYC2. Migration is suppressed by pertussis toxin, indicating that the receptor is coupled to a G-alpha protein. (OMIM, Swiss-Prot, LocusLink, and NCI)
