Human CRP wild-type allele is located within 1q21-q23 and is approximately 2 kb in length. This allele, which encodes c-reactive protein, is involved in acute inflammatory processes and in immune recognition and effector function. The gene also plays a role in the clinical evaluation of cardiovascular disease.
