Chromosome Condensation Definition
A process of progressive and tight packing of dispersed replicated interphase chromatin into compact visible nuclear genetic structures - chromosomes - in metaphase prior to mitotic or meiotic nuclear division in preparation for cell division, or during apoptosis in eukaryotic cells.
