Connective Tissue Growth Factor Protein Definition
Connective tissue growth factor protein (349 aa, ~38kDa) is encoded by the human CTGF gene. This protein plays a role in the promotion of proliferation and differentiation of chondrocytes and also mediates heparin- and divalent cation-dependent cell adhesion in many different cell types. The protein has also been found to inhibit the metastatic activity of human lung cancer in mice by angiogenisis inhibition.
