Induced by rifampin and expressed in liver by polymorphic human CYP2C9 Gene (CYP450 Family), 490-aa 56-kD Cytochrome P450 2C9 localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane and oxidizes steroids, fatty acids, and xenobiotics in drug metabolism and in the synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids.
