Cytokine Signaling Definition
Cytokine Signaling involves leukocyte secretion of soluble short-range low molecular weight hormone-like intercellular messenger proteins that communicate with immune and other cells to coordinate an immune response. Cytokines primarily stimulate or inhibit activation, differentiation, proliferation, or function of phagocytes, lymphocytes, and hematopoietic stem cells in immune and inflammatory responses to bacteria, virally infected cells, and cancer cells.
