DARC wt Allele Definition

Human DARC wild-type allele is located within 1q21-q22 and is approximately 3 kb in length. This allele, which encodes Duffy antigen/chemokine receptor protein, plays a role in the mediation of cellular interactions with cytokines. Polymorphisms in the gene are the basis for the Duffy blood group types.
