DBCCR1 wt Allele Definition

Human DBC1 wild-type allele is located within 9q32-q33 and is approximately 203 kb in length. This allele, which encodes deleted in bladder cancer protein 1, is involved in the modulation of cellular proliferation, the inhibition of the G1/S transition of the cell cycle, the mediation of non-apoptotic cell death and the regulation of the expression of components of the fibrinolysis pathway. Hypermethylation-based silencing or loss of homozygosity of the gene occurs in many cases of bladder cancer.
