DBL Oncoprotein Definition

Human DBL Oncoprotein is product of a mutated variant (Oncogene DBL) of widely expressed MCF2 Gene, which encodes 4 alternative variants of 66-kDa MCF2 (DBL) p66 Protein, a cytoplasmic and membrane phosphoserine guanine nucleotide exchange factor that modulates the activity of small RHO GTPases by promoting conversion from GDP- to GTP-bound form. p66 contains a CRAL-TRIO domain, a DH domain, a PH domain and a spectrin repeat; the DH domain catalyzes GDP-GTP exchange. Activated DBL oncogene is generated by 5-prime recombination with 3 (pter-p21) and by 3-prime recombination with 16 (p13-q22). The truncated DBL oncogene is active toward RHOA, RAC1 and CDC42. DBL Oncoprotein disrupts normal cell function.
