Dihydrofolate Reductase Definition
Dihydrofolate reductase converts dihydrofolate into tetrahydrofolate, a methyl group shuttle required for the de novo synthesis of purines, thymidylic acid, and certain amino acids. It is a drug target. Variation in gene expression or sequence may alter the efficacy of chemotherapy. (from LocusLink and NCI)
