Diversion Program Definition
A type of program designed to assist individuals and families to address diverse issues such as alcohol and drug abuse, child disobedience, behavioral deviations, misdemeanor and felony. Essential components of the program include but are not limited to: information and referral, case management, advocacy, short term support, help in identifying and assessing the services most appropriate to meet the needs of the individual and family. The program helps to guide each individual towards a positive understanding, acceptance and change of the problems at hand whereby the health and safety of the public is maintained.
