Dutch Belted Rabbit Definition

A smaller sized lagomorph, the Dutch belted rabbit has black hindquarters, ears and black patches around the eyes while the feet, face, and front half of the body are white. The Dutch belted rabbit is commonly utilized in biomedical research for toxicology studies, ophthalmological research, and developmental toxicity studies. This lagomorph's small size lends itself to studies in which the study drug is available in smaller quantities or if housing space is a consideration.
