ERBB2 Protein Definition
The ERBB2 gene encodes two forms of ERBB2 protein. One is a transmembrane protein that forms a heterodimer to act as the heregulin/neuregulin receptor. The other is a secreted form that consists only of the extracellular domain. It is capable of disrupting ERBB2 dimers thereby inhibiting growth.
