Electronvolt Definition
A unit of energy defined as the kinetic energy acquired by an electron in passing through a potential difference of one volt in a vacuum. Its value is experimentally determined as 1,602 177 x 10E-19 joule (approximately). The unit is accepted for use with SI units.
