Four and a Half LIM Domains-2 Protein Definition
Members of the four-and-a-half-LIM domain (FHL) protein family, which are expressed in a tissue- and stage-specific manner, have been reported to function as transcriptional coactivators. Expression of DRAL (FHL2) results in enhancement of NF-kappaB activation. DRAL (FHL2) is a p53-responsive gene implicated in induction of apoptosis. DRAL may participate in a regulatory mechanism that coordinates cellular responses controlled by NF-kappaB transcription factor. (from J Biol Chem 2002;277:37045-53 and FEBS Lett 2002;521(1-3):165-9)
