G Protein-Coupled Receptor Kinase-2-Like Protein Definition
Expressed primarily in testis and brain by human GPRK2L Gene (GPRK Family), one of 4 alternative isoforms (GRK4A, B, C, D) of 578-/546-/532-aa 67-kDa G Protein-Coupled Receptor Kinase 2-Like is a Ser/Thr kinase containing an RGS domain that phosphorylates activated GPCRs and may play a role in receptor desensitization. Only full-length GRK4D has kinase activity, can phosphorylate rhodopsin, and is inhibited by calmodulin. The other isoforms do not phosphorylate rhodopsin and do not interact with calmodulin. (NCI)
