GLTSCR1 Protein Definition
Glioma Tumor Suppressor Candidate Region Gene 1 Protein is encoded by the human GLTSCR1 gene. This protein is expressed at moderate levels in heart, brain, placenta, skeletal muscle, and pancreas, and at lower levels in lung, liver, and kidney. Mutation analysis of the transcripts in the gene region in diffuse gliomas with 19q deletions revealed no tumor-specific mutations. However, a marker in GLTSCR1, presumably separated from RAI by several million bases, supplements the most significant marker in RAI in separating cases of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) from controls, which may suggest the presence of an independent, risk-modulating variation in this second gene region.
