General Transcription Factor-IIIC4-90kDa Definition

Encoded by human GTF3C4 Gene, General Transcription Factor IIIC4 90kDa is a subunit of general transcription factor GTF3C, a component of RNA polymerase III and essential for RNA polymerase III to make a number of small nuclear and cytoplasmic RNAs, including 5S RNA, tRNA, and adenovirus-associated (VA) RNA. To initiate RNA synthesis, RNA polymerases need GTFs to assemble in a promoter-bound complex and recruit RNA polymerase. GTF3C4 interacts with GTF3B in recruiting RNA polymerase III and has histone acetyltransferase activity. GTF3C4 contains 2 C-terminal zinc fingers. (NCI)
