Glucagon Receptor Interaction Definition
Glucagon Receptor Interaction involves non-covalent binding through intermolecular physical forces of attraction with a G protein-coupled intrinsic membrane protein that binds to and mediates the biological effects of glucagon through modification of the activity of adenylyl cyclase and PI-Ca signal transduction pathways. Glucagon is a polypeptide hormone, secreted by islets of Langerhans alpha cells, that regulates blood glucose level; activates liver phosphorylase; stimulates glycogenolysis; promotes gluconeogenesis and ketogenesis; and stimulates insulin release.
