Guanine Nucleotide Binding Protein Alpha-Z Definition
Guanine nucleotide binding protein is a member of a G protein subfamily that mediates signal transduction; component of pertussis toxin-insensitive (PTX) heterotrimeric G-protein complexes. The protein differs strikingly from other G-alpha subunits in amino acid sequence in a number of regions, and it appeared to be highly enriched in neural tissue. (LocusLink and OMIM)
