Heat Shock 70kD Protein Binding Protein Definition
Encoded by human candidate tumor suppressor gene ST13 Gene, cytoplasmic 369-aa 41-kDa homotetrameric Heat Shock 70kD Protein Binding Protein is an adaptor protein containing 3 TPR repeats involved in assembly of glucocorticoid receptor, which requires the assistance of multiple chaperones. Dependent on HSC70 ATPase activation by HSP40, ST13 oligomer binds HSC70 ATPase domains and stabilizes the HSC70 ADP state that has high affinity for substrate protein. ST13 mediates HSP70 and HSP90 association and may interact with DNAJ homologs. Gene expression is downregulated in colorectal carcinoma. (NCI)
