Hexachlorophene Definition
A chlorinated bisphenol antiseptic agent with bacteriostatic activity. Hexachlorophene is used topically in soaps, creams and dermatological preparations and is active against gram-positive organisms, but much less effective against gram-negative organisms. (NCI05)
