Homeobox Protein-NKX3A Definition
Expressed in a largely prostate-specific and androgen-regulated manner by human NKX3-1 Gene (NK-3 Homeobox Family), nuclear Homeobox Protein NKX3A is a transcription factor containing 1 homeobox domain that preferentially binds the consensus sequence TAAGT[AG] and may regulate proliferation of glandular epithelium. NKX3A may interact with SRF and can also behave as a transcriptional repressor. (NCI)
