Encoded by 14-exon 6-kb human IMPDH2 Gene (IMPDH/GMPR Family), homotetrameric 514-aa 56-kDa IMP Dehydrogenase 2 is the rate-limiting enzyme in de novo guanine nucleotide synthesis, contains 2 CBS domains, and contains a blocked N-terminus. Involved in regulation of cell proliferation, IMPDH2 catalyzes the first step in GMP biosynthesis from IMP. (NCI)
