Human ITGA2B wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 17q21.32 and is approximately 17 kb in length. This allele, which encodes integrin alpha-IIb protein, plays a role in the regulation of blood clot formation. Mutations in the gene are associated with Glanzmann thrombasthenia.
