IgG-Fc-Receptor-IIIB Definition
Expressed (as NA-1, NA-2, and SH allelic forms) specifically by neutrophils and stimulated eosinophils, human FCGR3B Gene encodes 233-aa 26-kDa (precursor) monomeric IgG Fc Receptor IIIB, a glycosylated (inhibits IgG3 interaction) low affinity receptor for monomeric or aggregated Fc region of IgG, attached to membrane by a GPI-anchor, and containing 2 IgC2 domains. FCGR3B also exists as a soluble receptor produced by proteolytic cleavage. Unlike FCGR3A, FCGR3B is not capable of mediating antibody-dependent cytotoxicity and phagocytosis; FCGR3B may serve as a trap for immune complexes in the peripheral circulation without activating neutrophils. Amino acid conservation between CD16, other Fc receptors, and related Ig suggest similar structures and modes of association. (NCI)
