Immunologic Tolerance Definition
The failure of an organism to mount an immune response to an antigen. There are two primary types of immunological tolerance. The first type is an innate tolerance that prevents the body from attacking native proteins and tissue. The second type of tolerance is induced by exposure to foreign entities that entails the manipulation of the immune response to enable transplanted organ acceptance or to prevent allergic reactions.
