ImuVert Definition
A membrane vesicle/ribosome preparation derived from the bacterium Serratia marcescens with immunomodulatory activity. ImuVert triggers interferon (IFN) gamma production through binding the low affinity IgG Fc receptor type III (CD16) on natural killer (NK) cells. This agent works synergistically with interleukin-2 further enhancing IFN gamma production. In addition, ImuVert is capable of inducing peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC), from the cord blood of newborn infants lacking NK activity, to exhibit NK activity.
