Insulin Receptor-Related Receptor Definition
Encoded by human INSRR Gene (Insulin Receptor Family), 1297-aa 144-kDa (precursor) Insulin Receptor-Related Receptor is a type I membrane protein containing 4 fibronectin type III domains, a probable tetramer of disulfide-linked alpha and beta chains, and structurally similar to INSR and IGF1R. The two alpha chains contribute to formation of the ligand-binding domain for an insulin related protein; the two beta chains carry the tyrosine kinase domain. INSRR phosphorylates insulin receptor substrates IRS-1 and IRS-2. (NCI)
