Interleukin-12-Receptor Beta-2-Chain Definition
Encoded by interferon gamma-induced human IL12RB2 Gene (Type I Cytokine Receptor 2 Family), 862-aa 97-kDa (precursor) Interleukin 12 Receptor Beta 2 Chain is a type I transmembrane disulfide-linked dimer/oligomer protein containing 5 FNIII domains, a box 1 motif required for JAK interaction/activation, and a WSXWS motif for protein folding, intracellular transport, and cell-surface receptor binding. Involved in Th1 cell differentiation and IL12 signal transduction, IL12RB2 oligomers act as a low affinity IL12 receptor; the high affinity IL12 receptor is composed of IL12RB2 and I12RB1. IL12RB2 expression is associated with several infectious diseases and may contribute to host defense and the inflammatory response. (NCI)
