JUND Protein Definition
JUND belongs to the bZIP family and probably binds to AP-1 sites as a dimmer to stimulate activity of the associated promoter. Having an apparent anti-apoptotic role, JUND protects cells from senescence, or apoptotic responses to stress stimuli, by acting as a modulator of the RAS signaling pathways to p53. (from SWISS-PROT P17535, OMIM 165162, and NCI)
