Human MAP2K1 wild-type allele is located within 15q22.1-q22.33 and is approximately 104 kb in length. This allele, which encodes mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 1 protein, plays a role in the potentiation of mitogen-activated protein kinase activation upon wide variety of extra- and intracellular signals.
