Human MIR143 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 5q33.1 and is 105 bases in length. This allele, which encodes MIR143 pre-miRNA, plays a role in the regulation of gene expression. Alteration in the expression of this gene is associated with the development of bladder and colorectal cancer, Burkitt lymphoma, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia and obesity.
