Macrophage Inflammatory Protein-2 Beta Definition
Chemokines are small, mostly basic, related molecules that regulate trafficking of leukocytes through interactions with GPCRs. There are two protein components of MIP1, alpha and beta. MIP-2 beta may play a role in inflammation and exert its effects on endothelial cells in an autocrine fashion. MIP-2 beta expression studies indicate tissue-specific regulation as well as by specific agents, including IL-1, TNF, and lipopolysaccharide. (from OMIM 139111, Swiss-Prot P19876, and NCI)
