Matrix Metalloproteinase Inhibitor Definition
A class of antiangiogenic agents with antimetastatic properties. A matrix metalloproteinase inhibitor blocks the activities of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), thereby inducing extracellular matrix degradation and inhibiting angiogenesis, tumor growth and invasion, and metastasis. (NCI04)
