Methyclothiazide Definition
A thiazide diuretic with antihypertensive activity. Methyclothiazide directly inhibits sodium and chloride reabsorption on the luminal membrane of the early segment of the distal convoluted tubule in the kidney. This results in an increase in water, sodium, chloride, potassium and bicarbonate excretion and a decrease in calcium and uric acid secretion.
